KCP-PWG cadre arrested in Manipur’s Bishnupur on extortion charges; Police continue vigil to foil subversive activities

GUWAHATI, Nov 27: Manipur Police have arrested an active cadre of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) (KCP-PWG) named Wairokpam Naoba Meitei (34) of Phoijing Teramakhong from Heibongpokpi Khoiriphaba road near Nambol Khoriphaba in Bishnupur district.

The arrested KCP-PWG cadre was involved extortion from the general people and shopkeepers in Nambol area.

Police seized a two-wheeler and a mobile phone from his possession.

Meanwhile, search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts of the State.

Security forces ensures movement of 367 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-2 with strict security measures taken up in all vulnerable locations. Police also provided security convoy in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of vehicles.

A total of 106 checkpoints have been installed in various districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley.
