Guwahati: The Kamrup Metro District Administration is all set to hold a peaceful election of the Tiwa Autonomous Council in Assam on 17 December, following all COVID-19 protocols.
At a press conference, Biswajit Pegu, Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup Metro, said that all necessary steps would be taken to hold the elections as per the directions of the Assam State Election Commission.
Biswajit Pegu mentioned that the elections will be held in six constituencies of the Kamrup metropolitan district – Digmoria, Digaru, Khetri, Sonapur, Ampri and Phong Ari. A total of 100 polling stations have been set up in these 6 constituencies. The total number of voters in the district is 78,180. The number of male voters is 38,360 and there are 39,820 female voters.
The polling will take place between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM across the Council’s 36 constituencies spread over Nagaon, Morigaon, Hojai and Kamrup Metropolitan district. The re-polls (if any) would be conducted on 18 December and the counting would be done on 19 December from 8 AM onwards.
The last date of filing nominations for the candidature is 25 November and the publication of the list of contesting candidates would be announced on 28 November.
