Kamakhya gets ready for Ambubachi Mela from 22nd June

The Ambubachi Mela 2019 will be held from 22 June to 26 June at the Kamakhya Temple premises.

The inauguration ceremony of the Ambubachi Mela will be held on 22nd June at the Sonaram Higher Secondary School playground. Popular Bollywood singer Kailash Kher will be present on the occasion.

The Kamrup Metro District administration has started the preparations for the event on a war footing from Kamakhya Nursery to the Nilachal Hills.

Like every year, the surroundings and the roads are being cleaned. Also, the railings on the road leading to the temple premises are being freshly painted.

Keeping in mind the requirements of lakhs of devotees the district administration has made special arrangements. Four temporary camps are being prepared for those arriving for the Ambubachi Mela.

This year, there will be no camp for the devotees at the Kamakhya Railway station. Instead, a bigger camp would be set up in Fancy Bazar at the Old Central Jail campus. Four camps will be set up at Pandu, Naharbari, Badipara and Fancy Bazar.

The district administration is also giving prime importance to the safety and security of the devotees. Sufficient number of CCTVs will be installed at strategic locations.

The Kamrup district administration led by Biswajit Pegu, DC Kamrup (M) is in touch with senior police officials and NGOs. Also, Pegu has instructed the GMC and GMDA to ensure efficient services during the mela period. (NB)
