GUWAHATI: Assamese cultural and literary doyen Jyoti Prasad Agarwala is being fondly remembered today on his birth anniversary.
Agarwala who produced and directed first Assamese movie ‘Joymoti’ in 1935 had made unparalleled contributions towards Assamese films, music, literature and society.
He was born on June 3, 1903 and died on January 17, 1951.
Remembering the icon who is known as ‘Rupkonwar’, Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said every work of Agarwala reflected his fundamental consciousness.
