Just after inauguration, Ganeshguri flyover painted with Gutka stains

Guwahati:  Just a few moments after the inauguration of the newly constructed Ganeshguri flyover in Guwahati, uneducated  citizens have put their ‘stamp’ on the new pride of Guwahati.

The newly constructed flyover has been painted red with pan and gutka stains.

The incident of spitting pan or gutka on the newly constructed bridge has given rise to sharp reactions on social media. The photos have already been viral.

Netizens have denounced such activity in strong words and urged the people to keep the bridge neat and clean.

The government is trying to achieve ‘Swach Bharat’, but until and unless the people become more aware and active nothing could be attained.

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday inaugurated the newly-constructed Ganeshguri Flyover in Guwahati in presence of  Assam health, finance, education and public works department (PWD) minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Guwahati development department minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya.

This is not the first instance where people have come with such activities.

Just one day after the inauguration of the Bogibeel Bridge, the citizens also painted the bridge with pan stains all over. It looked like the stains had been sprayed from a fast-moving vehicle thereby leaving a modern-day graffiti feel on the white.
