Guwahati: BJP MP Topon Kumar Gogoi has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time. The MP who represents the Jorhat constituency tested positive on Friday evening.
The parliamentarian, who is also a general secretary of the Assam state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party was scheduled to participate in the election rally on Saturday which is to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Chabua.
Earlier in September last year, Gogoi tested positive for Covid-19 and administered plasma at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
The sudden surge in COVID-19 cases in the country has created panic among the citizens and the government has issued its guidelines to control the disease.
