GUWAHATI, Feb 14: US President Donald Trump hosted Prime Minister Narendra Modi at White House’s Oval office, as the two leaders discussed various issues and how to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.
Featuring on the talks agenda between PM Modi and President Trump were issues relating to trade and defence, technology, energy, security, and bilateral ties besides exchanged views on regional and international developments of shared interest.
Trump greeted Prime Minister Modi with a handshake and an embrace while also pulling out a chair for the Indian Prime Minister to sit.
“We missed you, we missed you a lot,” President Trump told PM Modi while Indian PM was heard reciprocating to the warm welcome saying: “It’s great to see you again.”
Trump also gifted Modi his book ‘Our Journey Together’, with an inscription that read, “Mr Prime Minister, You Are Great.”
“An excellent meeting with @POTUS @realDonaldTrump at the White House. Our talks will add significant momentum to the India-USA friendship!” Prime Minister Modi wrote on ‘X’.
“President Trump often talks about MAGA. In India, we are working towards a Viksit Bharat, which in American context translates into MIGA. And together, the India-USA have a MEGA partnership for prosperity!” Prime Minister Modi further wrote.
The two leaders also addressed a joint statement stressing the relationship between the two leaders and their past meetings.
