GUWAHATI, Nov 24: Former Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history after he was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for a whooping Rs 27 crore while Punjab Kings bagged the services of former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore in the mega IPL auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The price LSG paid for Pant ecclipsed the Rs 26.75 crore Punjab Kings shelled out for Iyer just minutes ago.

Kolkata Knight Riders, on the other hand, had paid Rs 24.75 crore for Mitchell Starc in the IPL 2024 auctions making him the costliest player then.

Starc, meanwhile, was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 11.75 crore in the auctions being held in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah on Sunday.

On the other hand, Arshdeep Singh became the first player to be sold in the IPL 2025 mega auction when his former franchise Punjab Kings used the right-to-match (RTM) card to secure the services of the left-arm pacer for a price tag of Rs 18 crore.

84 players are going under the hammer today.
