Guwahati: Assam Finance, Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma slammed senior Congress leader and former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi for seeking an alliance with Badruddin Ajmal’s All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).
Speaking of the 85-year-old Gogoi, Dr.Sarma said, “In Hindu religion, this is the time for sanyas. Instead of seeking Ram and Krishna, Gogoi is looking for Badruddin Ajmal. If you travel across the state, not a single person of his age is involved with the materialistic world. You look at the person’s degeneration.”
“If Tarun Gogoi opens the door for Badruddin Ajmal at Rajiv Bhawan, he will not be in a position to ask Ajmal where to sit. Gogoi is in his 90s, he should remember it,” said the senior BJP leader.
“Tarun Gogoi still thinks that he is the chief minister and so he keeps making unnecessary statements. In the 2021 elections, there is no relevance of Tarun Gogoi. I had some issues which I have already shown in 2016. It’s gone now. I’m in neutral gear now. If I meet him now, I will show him respect as he is a senior,” Dr. Sarma told reporters.
Dr. Sarma also added, “Gogoi has no significance in the coming elections. The media should leave him alone lest he suffers and gets agitated upon hearing poll-related questions from reporters”.
