Suspended Congress leader Anil Raja faced the ignominy of having ink thrown at him, allegedly by a supporter of former Congress minister Rakibul Hussain, in front of the Kamrup CJM Court in Guwahati today (Sep 15).
Raja had come to the court in connection with the hearing in the defamation suit filed against him by Rakibul, and was making his way out from court when he was mobbed by Rakibul Hussain’s supporters while one of them threw the ink that fell on his ‘kurta’.

Rakibul Hussain’s supporters also shouted “Anil Raja Murdabad” slogans. Raja was suspended by the Congress party for accusing the former Forest and P&RD minister of amassing wealth and property disproportionate to his known sources of income besides also questioning his academic qualifications.
The two politicians have been engaged in a bitter verbal battle with one accusing the other of being involved in corruption and other malpractices. The spat reached court after Rakibul lodged a defamation case against Raja while rejecting the latter’s accusations as false, baseless and vindictive.
