Probe into the Indore couple case has intensified with Meghalaya Police intensifying their search for 27-year-old Sonam Raghuvanshi who went missing in Meghalaya on May 23 during her honeymoon.

Incidentally, police had recovered a raincoat with what is believed to be blood stains, suspected to belong to Sonam, on Wednesday which has been sent for forensic testing.

Raja Raghuvanshi, a 29-year-old from Indore, was murdered during his honeymoon and his body was discovered on June 2 in a gorge near Weisawdong, approximately 20 km from his last known location.
The post-mortem report revealed that he was killed using a tree cutter, with his body dismembered and bones crushed, indicating a premeditated and inhumane act.

Raja and his wife Sonam had checked out from their homestay in Nongriat village on May 23, and their abandoned scooter was later found nearby.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), along with other agencies, is actively searching for Sonam, utilizing drones and a Special Investigation Team (SIT). However, adverse weather conditions have hampered the search efforts.

Raja’s family has criticized the local authorities for inadequate efforts in locating Sonam and investigating the murder, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry.

No arrests, however, has been made, and the motive behind the crime also remains unclear.

Key Updates:

Raja (29) and Sonam (27) Raghuvanshi embarked on their honeymoon to Sohra (Cherrapunjee), Meghalaya, in late May 2025. On May 23, they went missing during a trek near Weisawdong Falls.
