India records lowest daily COVID19 deaths in 111 days

GUWAHATI: On Tuesday, India recorded the lowest, daily death toll due to COVID19 in past 111 days. A total of 553 deaths were reported and 34,703 positive cases were reported, said a Union Health Ministry release. Recoveries continue to outnumber daily new cases for the 54th consecutive day.

Moreover, national COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 97.17 per cent. Total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country stood at 42,14,24,881 (over 42 crore) on Monday.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.11 per cent. It has been less than three per cent for 15 consecutive days, the ministry said, adding the weekly positivity rate has declined to 2.40 per cent.

A total of 4,03,281 deaths have been reported so far in the country with highest, 1,23,136 deaths reported from Maharashtra.

The Union Health Ministry stated that more than 70 per cent of the COVID19 deaths occurred due to co-morbidities.
