India has high hopes on their shooters, wrestlers and boxers to deliver gold medals at the Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia to better the 57-medal mark they achieved in Incheon four years ago. Though India struggled at the Olympics, but have performed reasonably well in the quadrennial continental event, only twice finishing outside the top eight since hosting the first Asiad in 1951.
The country has won at least 10 golds in each of the last four Games and the August 18-September. Two multi-sports competitions will be a timely indicator ahead of the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Spearheading India’s golden pursuit will be the shooters, who topped the medal tally in this year’s Mexico World Cup, finishing ahead of United States and China and be headlined by a trio of talented teenagers.
This is noteworthy that n the 400m , Hima clocked 51.46 at the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships but she clocked 51.13 in the Sr. National held at Guwahati, which was incidentally her best. On the other hand Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Naser is clocking 49.08 sec and that is almost 2 seconds ahead of Hima.
