GUWAHATI, Jan 7: India defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in the second T20 international at Indore to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. The first tie in Guwahati was washed out on Sunday without a single ball being bowled.
Sri Lanka posted 142 for the loss of 9 wickets after Indian skipper Virat Kohli asked the visitors to bat first after winning the toss at Indore.
Kusal Perera top scored for the Lankans making 34 runs. For India, Shardul Thakur picked up three wickets while Saini and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each.
In reply, India reached the target with 15 balls to spare.
KL Rahul top scored making 45 for the hosts while Iyer made 34, Dhawan chipped in with 32 and skipper Kohli remained unbeaten on 30.
Navdeep Saini was adjudged Man of the Match for his performance with the ball.
The third match of the series will be played at Pune on Friday (Jan 10).
