In major security breach, two intruders enter Lok Sabha, open gas canisters


GUWAHATI, Dec 13: The security bandobast put in place in Parliament went in a toss today with two persons, both carrying smoke canisters, jumped into the chamber of the House from the visitors’ gallery.

Footage showed one man leaping across desks as the second person, who was in the visitors’ gallery, sprayed smoke.

The two persons were later overpowered by Lok Sabha MPs and other staff officials of the House.

Two more people, including a woman carrying cans that emitted yellowish smoke, were also held from outside Parliament building.

The incident took place on the 22nd anniversary of the infamous attack on Parliament in which 9 people were killed and 18 injured.
