A tragic road accident claimed at least 5 girl students’ life and left several injured
A bus bearing registration number MN- 01 -2112, carrying students of Thambalnu Higher Secondary School on an Annual Study Tour met a tragic road accident before reaching its destination Leimatak under Khoupum subdivision of Noney district
The accident according to nearby locals occurred at around 11:30 pm while they were negotiating a turning and turned turtle which claimed the life of 5 girls students and left several injured
The ill-fated bus left the school premises of Thambalnu Higher Secondary School, located at Yairipok Top Chingtha on the outskirts of Imphal east on Wednesday early morning for an annual study tour to Leimatak a famous tourist spot in Noney district
The bus skid away from the state highway while negotiating a turning and a mishap happened around 1 km before it reach Leimatak
Locals of the Leimatak area and adjoining villagers first came out for rescue operations which were later joined by a police team from the Bishnupur district
Altogether 36 were on board in the bus including students and teaching staff of the school.
Health and Family Welfare minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan along with a medical team headed by the director health services rushed to spot.
