GUWAHATI: “If quarantine system fails, it will pose a big risk,” said Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday at a press meet in Guwahati. Dr. Sarma stated that the onus of the government is on the well-functioning of quarantine system.
He also mentioned that around Rs. 300 crore would be spent to quarantine 1 lakh people and provide help to 4 lakh people under ‘Assam Cares’.
“It is only about the care part, not the treatment,” minister Sarma stated.
The health minister also informed that all the recently detected COVID-19 patients were under quarantine which lowers the risk of community spread.
“From now the entire COVID-19 management project will depend on quarantine system. If quarantine fails, it will spread to community,” Dr. Sarma added.
