I don’t feel lockdown in Assam is necessary: Himanta Biswa Sarma

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday he doesn’t feel the necessity to impose lockdown to combat COVID-19 in the state.

He claimed Assam has sufficient resources to fight against the virus. Therefore, no such situation will emerge in the state to impose a lockdown.

“I don’t feel the necessity to impose lockdown. Lockdown is imposed to get instant relief when there are shortages of oxygen, vials, medicines or kits at the hospitals.  Lockdown has been imposed in Delhi as chief minister himself admitted the shortage of oxygen. But as of now Assam has all the resources. So, we have not faced the necessity to impose lockdown in Assam,” Dr. Sarma said.

The health minister said all the arrangements have been made in the State to combat the pandemic.
