GUWAHATI: The educational institutions in Assam will start classes from 1st September. This was informed by state education minister Ranoj Pegu on Thursday.
The minister informed that classes for HS Final Year, Degree Final Year, University final year will start from the 1st week of September.
“For students the first vaccine is compulsory to attend the classes. They will have to take their second vaccine within a stipulated time frame and will be responsible for it. Teachers and other employees will also have to be vaccinated,” said Pegu.
The Assam Cabinet has okayed the opening of hostels but completing both the doses of vaccine is compulsory. A different SOP will be released by the education department for this by 31st August, said Pegu.
He also stated that a special vaccination drive will start from 27th August in educational institutions of the state to cover all those teachers, students above the age of 18 and employees who have not been vaccinated so far.
