GUWAHATI: Union home minister Amit Shah talked to Assam health and finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma over phone to take stock of landslides in and around Guwahati. Shah assured the Assam Government of all support from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in dealing with the situation.
Taking to Twitter, minister Himanta Biswa Sarma writes, “Received a call from Honble Home Minister @AmitShah ji enquiring about landslides in and around Guwahati and assured us of all support from the @NDRFHQ . I express my heartfelt gratitude to @AmitShah ji for his concern for the people of Assam in this hour of distress.”
Many parts in Guwahati and some nearby areas including Amingaon have been witnessing massive landslides due to the incessant rains for the last few days. On Sunday, a 21-year old girl died in a landslide at Kharghuli in Guwahati . Another, 62-year old woman had died due to the landslide in Kahilipara area on Friday.
