In a recent development in the Hizbul terrorist case, the Hojai Police on Sunday picked up Qamer-uz-Zaman’s brother Saiful Islam alias Liton for questioning. Police also raided the house of Saidul Alom, another associate of Qamer, who was arrested by police yesterday.

According to police, Shah Alom and Saidul Alom had planned to trigger bomb blasts at Lumding. The sensational confession was made by the duo during interrogation by Hojai Police.
In a sensational disclosure made by Qamer’s arrested associate Shah Alom, Qamer visited Assam last month and even went to his hometown Jamunamukh where he met his friends and associates. He also offered namaz at a local mosque.
Earlier, the Guwahati Police and crime branch sleuths of Assam Police arrested another accomplice of the arrested Hizbul militant on Saturday. Identified as Omar Farooq (35), of Jamunamukh, arrested from Byrnihat in Meghalaya last evening.

“Qamer-uz-Zaman stayed at my house in Jamunamukh for five days when he visited Assam in August, paid me Rs 30,000 for providing him shelter,” said Omar Farooq, Qamer’s friend and associate.
Meanwhile, Assam Police team that flew to Uttar Pradesh after the arrest of Hizbul terrorist Qamer-uz-Zaman interrogated the arrested terrorist in Lucknow on Saturday. The team is likely to further quiz him regarding his links with other fundamentalist elements in Assam.
