GUWAHATI: “Hiren Gohain is out and out supporter of Muslim fundamentalist organisations. He has been constantly taking stand in favour of Muslim fundamentalists,” said Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Addressing a press meet in Guwahati on Tuesday, Dr. Sarma lashed out at writer and intellectual Dr. Hiren Gohain for supporting JNU student Sharjeel Imam’s controversial statement to cut off Assam from the rest of India.
“Hiren Gohain was sitting with Maulana Madani when he warned Assam opposing NRC. He has taken stand in favour of Muslim fundamentalists comparing Sharjeel Imam’s statement with emotion,” minister Sarma stated.
He also termed the role of Dr. Gohain as anti-Assamese during Assam Agitation.
