Assam Minister and Badminton Association of India (BAI) President, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has been unanimously elected as Vice President of Badminton Asia Confederation on Thursday. He was elected in Bangkok during this year’s Badminton Asia Confederation’s (BAC) Annual General Meeting. Himanta Biswa Sarma is also a Chairman of Para Committee, BAC.

BAC is the governing body for the sport in Asia under the flagship of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and currently has 43 members in the association, including India. Meanwhile, Himanta Biswa Sarma will serve under President Anton Aditya Subowo of Indonesia.
It should be noted that the Assam Minister was elected as full-time President of BAI, on 3rd April, 2018. He has also served as the President of the Assam Badminton Association.
