GUWAHATI: As part of the mega step to develop the educational scenario of tea garden areas in Assam, education and finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday laid the foundation stone of the Model High School at Sonabil Tea Garden in Rangapara.
“Each school is a step towards a brighter future of #TeaGardens. GoA is determined to make education available to every child!” Sarma tweeted.
He was accompanied by Tezpur Lok Sabha MP Pallab Lochan Das.
On his arrival at the tea garden, minister Sarma was given a heroic welcome by the local residents.
Earlier on Sunday, minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone of Model High Schools at several tea gardens in Biswanath and Ranagapara legislative constituencies.
Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal also laid foundation stone of schools at tea gardens in Nazira.
The Assam government has set a target of establishing 119 Model High Schools in tea garden areas of the state.
