Guwahati: Assam Health, Education and Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday inaugurated a new Radiation Oncology Block at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital’s (GMCH) Cancer Hospital.
Considering the demand for dedicated cancer hospitals Dr. Sarma inaugurated the new Radiation Oncology Block with Tomotherapy at GMCH.
It is to be noted that this Radiation Oncology Block with Tomotherapy is the first in the entire northeast region.
Speaking at the inaugural event Dr. Sarma said, ” We have installed a new Radiation machine which cost around Rs. 28 crores. The machine is too advance and it will help in enhancing the treatment for the people who are suffering from cancer. People can avail the treatment of Tomotherapy at GMCH without even going outside and spending money. We have also inaugurated the second line of the radiation unit at GMCH”.
