GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a microbiology laboratory at the Institute of Advance Study in Science and Technology (IASST) in Guwahati on Monday. The laboratory set-up in the collaboration between Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and IASST will conduct one thousand COVID-19 tests per day.
“We will be able to conduct around one thousand COVID-19 tests here. After one week, with the help of this laboratory we will be able to discharge the air travelers and people in quarantine after four days of their institutional quarantine,” said Dr. Sarma.
He expressed hope that the laboratory will bolster the COVID-19 testing facilities in the State.
