Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurates 40-bedded ICU at Silchar Medical College

GUWAHAti: Making a giant leap in the healthcare facilities in the Barak Valley, Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a 40-bedded intensive care unit (ICU) at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) on Saturday. Inauguarating the ICU, Dr. Sarma also announced that it would be upgraded  to 100 beds by December 31 in 2020.

On the other hand, minister Sarma also laid the foundation stone of a 500-bed emergency hospital wing. The emergecny wing will be built with Rs. 90 crore.

He also laid foundation stone of various other medical infrastructure worth Rs 44 crore.

“Another step taken towards upgrading medical facilities in Silchar~ Laid the foundation stone of a 500-bed emergency hospital wing worth Rs 90 cr & various other medical infrastructure worth Rs 44 cr at SMCH today. It shall further strengthen health care in the area,” minister Sarma stated in a tweet.
