Himanta Biswa Sarma distributes land pattas in Jorhat

GUWAHATI: Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed land pattas to indigenous people in Jorhat on Monday. Sarma handed over the land pattas to indigenous people as part of the initiative by the revenue and disaster management department of the government of Assam to give land rights to one lakh indigenous people of Assam from today.

“We formed the government in 2016 with the two main aspects—identity and development. We have been working relentlessly to achieve these goals,” Dr. Sarma said.

He stated that the government has not only been undertaking various developmental schemes, but also working to preserve the identity and culture of the indigenous people.  

“Today in Jorhat, distributed Land Pattas to people. This year GoA has distributed 2819 Periodic Pattas & 2195 Allotment Certificates, making total distribution more than the balance target. Across Assam, more than 1 Lakh Pattas have been distributed so far,” Sarma added.
