GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed engagement letters to 728 staff nurses and 400 surveillance workers under National Health Mission today.
The ceremonial distribution of engagement letters was held at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital auditorium.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Sarma urged the newly engaged workers of the National Health Mission to devote themselves for the patients.
“There are many departments for jobs. But to work in the health department, one must possess the mentality to serve,” Dr. Sarma added.

He also revealed government’s aim of setting-up medical colleges in almost all the district headquarters of the state by 2025.
Dr. Sarma also outlined various initiatives of the government to develop the health sector of Assam.
