GUWAHATI: Assam has reported highest single-day spike of COVID-19 positive cases on Tuesday. So far 20 people have been detected with COVID-19 on Tuesday within a span of one hour.
At 11.05 AM Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted about 6 new positive cases in the state. Among them, two cases are each from Jorhat and Golaghat, while one case is each from Kokrajhar and Nagaon. One of the Jorhat patients had returned from Chennai. On the other hand, other patients had returned from Darjeeling, informed minister Sarma in his Tweet.
Alert ~ Six new #COVID19 + cases confirmed – 2 each from Jorhat and Golaghat and 1 each from Kokrajhar & Nagaon. One Jorhat patient had returned from Chennai, while other came from Darjeeling. All are in quarantine. Total – 121.

At 11.55 AM Dr. Sarma alerted with the announcement of 14 more cases— 7 from Kamrup , 2 from Hojai, 2 from Biswanath, 1 from Nagaon and 2 from Nalbari. They had reportedly returned from other states.
With these new cases, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Assam has jumped to 135. Currently, with 4 deaths and recovery of 41 patients, there are 88 cases in the state. Two patients have migrated to other states.
