Heavy Rain could dampen Rongali Bihu spirits, warns IMD

PUBLISHED:

Guwahati: Foul weather in several parts of the State including Guwahati may play spoilsport to the plans of scores of people, who otherwise would have enjoyed the holiday atmosphere of Rongali Bihu this year.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on April 11, 2022, predicted heavy rainfall activity accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam-Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during next 5 days.

This is due to the influence of strong southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal to the Northeastern States at lower tropospheric levels, stated IMD in their Daily Weather Forecast.

Isolated very heavy rainfall activity is likely to play spoilsport over Assam including Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh on April 13 and 14 and heavy rainfall likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on April 13 and 14, 2022.

Seven-day forecast for Guwahati as per the Regional Meteorological Department, Guwahati:
