Classes will begin at 7:30 am and end latest by 12:30 pm as per the new school timings in the wake of heat wave conditions
School timings in Guwahati, Sribhumi revised due to heat wave conditions: School timings in Guwahati (Kamrup Metro) and Sribhumi districts have been revised in the wake of the steep rise in temperatures.
The inspectors of schools of the two districts have issued separate orders notifying the change in school timings which will come into effect from tomorrow (June 11).
As per the instructions, classes in LP schools will begin from 7:30 in the morning and end at 11:30 am. On the other hand, ME school classes will be held from 7:30 am to 12 noon while high school and higher secondary school classes will be held from 7: 30 am to 12:30 pm.
“As per the instruction received from the District Commissioner, Kamrup metro district in the interest of public wellbeing the normal school timing is again rescheduled due to continuous rise of Mercury level and prevailing scorching heat for both Govt. Provincialised and private schools under Kamrup Metro district w.e.f Wednesady, 11th June ‘2025,” the order issued by the Inspector of School of Kamrup Metro district read.
The order further detailed the revised school timings as has been mentioned above.
The order further asked schools to conduct morning assembly inside the classroom or shaded area and to not conduct any outdoor activities.
Schools have also been told to ensure that students drink sufficient water for which three four water bells must be rang during the school hours and to also ensure enough drinking water facility inside the school premises.
“Schools should ensure that all fans are functional and all classrooms are properly ventilated,” the order further stated.
The revised school timing in Kamrup Metro, the order stated, would continue till June 16 (Monday) while in Sribhumi, the new school timings will remain in force until further notice.
