GUWAHATI, Dec 10: Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has criticized Team India pacer Mohammad Siraj for “misbehaving” with Australian cricketers Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne during Australia’s first innings in the just-concluded second test at Adelaide.
Kaif, in a video shared on social media, said the lanky Indian pacer misbehaved twice and not just once with the Australian batters which, he said, was “not the kind of example that a role model would like to set for the next generation”.
Kaif said Siraj was wrong on both occasions – firstly when he threw the ball at Marnus Labuschagne in the first innings when the Australian batter backed away because of some movement near the sightscreen and secondly, while giving the unnecessary send-off to Travis Head after the left-hander smashed a match-winning 141-ball 140.
Siraj has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee by the ICC while Australian batter Travis Head received a “sanction”.
“Siraj has been penalised 20 per cent of his match fee after being found guilty of breaching article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel,” the ICC said in a statement.
