Happy Birthday KK: Celebrating the most versatile singer of Bollywood with his evergreen hits

PUBLISHED:

Guwahati: One of the most loved songs of the 90s is undoubted, Yaaron by KK. The song became an anthem for friendship across generations and we still find ourselves humming it, time and again. The song’s voice struck a connection with us and we eagerly wanted to know about the singer and so we started digging and got to know a name or better to say the initials of a name – KK.

Krishnakumar Kunnath popularly know as KK turns 53 today and yet his voice never fails to amaze us.

As the years went by, KK continued to deliver us chartbusters one after another about friendship and love. With each new song, we fell even more in love with his voice. KK wasn’t labeled by a genre or a style, his voice merely went hand-in-hand with wonderful music. He sang upbeat dance songs as well as cheesy romantic hits, and this is what made him a singer of all ages.

Before I start, I want to add something personal. Thank you KK, for all those renditions that helped me in every situation- When I was down, nursing a broken heart, or even while dreaming about that non-existent prince charming. More power to your voice!

His professional life started out as a marketing executive, but he couldn’t shrug music off his veins. So he took a chance and gave a demo tape to Louis Banks, Ranjit Barot and Lesle Lewis in 1990s, and after some years, we got his Tadap Tadap and Pal. While the Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam-song became an anthem for broken hearts, Pal defined “moments.”

So on his birthday let us remember his evergreen songs that will never fade away from our hearts and minds.
