GUWAHATI: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA from southern Assam’s Hailakandi constituency Anwar Hussain Laskar has tested positive for COVID-19.
Earlier in the day, Naharkatia MLA Naren Sonowal and Lahowal MLA Rituparna Barua were found positive for novel coronavirus.
The legislators were tested in the Assam Legislative Assembly complex ahead of the summer session which will begin from August 31.
All the ministers and MLAs have to compulsorily test themselves for COVID-19 before taking part in the assembly proceedings.
Similarly, all staff of the assembly and journalists covering the session will also have to undergo COVID 19 test.
Special provision for testing has been made in the Assembly premise ahead of the session.
The four-day session will be held with special safety and health guidelines, including allowing only 50% of members inside the House at a given point of time.
The other members can follow the proceedings from the central hall or their respective party rooms in the Assembly premise.
