Hagrama Mohilary roaming around with bag full of cash: Pramod Boro

Guwahati: United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) president Pramod Boro on Tuesday alleged that Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) Chief Hagrama Mohilary is roaming around with a bag full of cash for distribution among the voters to vote for him in exchange.

Speaking to the media Boro said, “Hagrama is definitely going to lose from both the constituencies. And that’s the reason he is roaming in Koklabari and other villages with a bag full of cash to influence the voters. His main motive is to make me lose, but he forgot that it’s not me who is contesting from Koklabari. It’s the people who are contesting from my seat and it’s not easy to defeat the people of Koklabari.”

Bodo also added, “Hagrama, too, contested elections from two constituencies so he must know that I am just a representative of the people in Koklabari and it is the people who are the kings here. I am no one to be defeated.”

Earlier, Promod Boro welcomed Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi’s announcement for declaring Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD) as Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election will be held in two phases on 7 and 10 December and the results will be declared on 12 December. With the polling day nearing, allegations and counter-allegations are flying high among the political opponents. A rift has formed between the BPF and BJP who are coalition partners in the state government. The bitterness has reached to such a level that the BJP has put up candidates in 27 of the 40 council seats. Senior BJP leader and Assam cabinet minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has been leading the BJP campaign with multiple rallies every day.

The Hagrama Mohilary-led BPF has been ruling the council for 15 years (three consecutive terms). As per sources the main competition would be between BPF, BJP and UPPL.
