It has almost been a year since the Dokmoka lynching incident that shocked and numbed the entire world. Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das, in their early thirties, were lynched by a murderous mob at Panjuri village in Dokmoka, Karbi Anglong, on June 8 last year.
A year has rolled by but tears still roll down the cheeks of family members, relatives and friends of the two youths. Their wounds are still fresh.
As the families of Abhijeet and Nilotpal observed their first annual adya-shraddha on their death anniversary (tithi) with religious rituals being organized for eternal peace to their souls, there is just one hope left: justice, for the two souls as well as for their families.
The murderers who are facing trial at a fast-track court in Nagaon should get exemplary punishment, the two families said.
