Two women arrested for robbing Rs 18,000 from youth after brandishing knife at him at Ganeshguri in Guwahati: Dispur Police on Thursday arrested two women who had robbed a youth of Rs 18,000 after brandishing a knife at him in Ganeshguri, Guwahati.
Police also recovered the money the two women — identified as Manju Malhotra alias Amina Begum (40), a resident of Chaaygaon, and Janmoni Begum (25), resident of Kundulajhar Gaon, Mangaldoi — had robbed from the 24-year-old youth who had come to Guwahati for some job-related work.
Police said the victim named Sahil Basfor (24), a resident of Tinsukia town, lodged a complaint at Dispur Police Station on Wednesday night alleging that the two woman accosted him, threatened him with a knife before robbing him of Rs 18,000 he had with him when he was walking under the Ganeshguri flyover at around 10 pm on Wednesday.
Based on his complaint, a case was registered at Dispur Police Station (Dispur PS Case No. 444/2025 u/s 309(4)3(5) of BNS.
Police immediately swung into action and arrested the two woman at 2 am besides also recovering the money robbed from him from the two women’s possession.
Police further said that necessary legal action is being initiated against the two arrested women.
