GUWAHATI, Nov 6: Guwahati will etch its name in history books with the Barsapara cricket stadium getting the nod to host atleast two IPL matches next year, Rajasthan Royals and the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) officials announced in Guwahati today.
The Royals will play two of their home fixtures in Guwahati, the franchise’s owner Manoj Bedale announced.
The Royals owner was full of praise for Riyan Parag, Assam’s new sports icon, who caught the attention of the entire cricketing world while playing for them in IPL 2019.
He also announced that the franchise will also set up a cricket academy in Assam.
ACA secretary Devajit Saikia was also present in the joint presser.
The Barsapara stadium hosted its first T20 international between India and Australia in 2017 besides also hosting the first one-dayer between India and West Indies in Oct last year.
