Guwahati: Three minor missing girls rescued, two arrested

The three school girls who had gone missing from Guwahati’s Amingaon area on February 17 have been rescued safely on Tuesday morning.

According to reports, in a joint operation by Pragjyotishpur Police and Panikhaiti Police in Guwahati the missing girls were rescued successfully from Kamalajari Gaon village, Sonapur subdivision, Kamrup Metro.

The three minor girls has been identified as as Riya Timung of Birkuchi, Rashmi Sonar of Bonda and Rashmi Sarma.

The trio are students of Raghunath Choudhary Hindi High School in Guwahati’s Birkuchi locality.

Reports state that the girls had left their homes on February 17, to visit a friend but didn’t return home that night.

The family members of the girls initially assumed that they had spent the night at their friend’s house.

However suspicion hovered them but when they did not return even on Sunday, the families of the girls filed a missing complaint at Pragjyotishpur Police Station.

It was discovered that one of the three girls, who was carrying a cell phone, was switched off, leading to the parents getting worried and filing the complaint.

Meanwhile, an investigation has been initiated by the Pragjyotish police and two youths has been detained regarding the matter.
