GUWAHATI, Feb 12: In a shocking incident, a man killed his wife and step-daughter and later hanged himself at the Railway colony in Bamunimaidam, Guwahati.
Lohit Thakuria allegedly killed his wife Julie Deka, a Railway department employee, along with his step-daughter Ritika, a student of Class 9, before hanging himself.
The alleged killer had reportedly called his brother to inform him that he has killed his wife and step-daughter before taking the extreme step.
Police recovered the bodies of the mother and daughter in a pool of blood while Lohit was found hanging in another room.
Julie lived with her daughter and Lohit, her second husband, whom she had married after the death of her first spouse at K Block, Quarter No. 427 of Bamunimaidam Railway Colony where the grisly murders took place.
Incidentally, neighbours said Lohit was earlier arrested by police and had stayed in jail after his step-daughter lodged a complaint with police alleging that he had attempted to outrage her modesty.
Police, after arriving at the scene of crime, took the three bodies for post-mortem.
