In another incident that has highlighted the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the capital city, a woman was dragged by her hair by a rowdy youth in the heart of Guwahati.
The incident took place in front of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara, on Wednesday night.
The youth, identified as Rohan Agarwal, was driving his car and allegedly made lewd gestures towards the woman after he drove his car perilously close to her and was almost about to knock her down.
The woman told that she rejected his advances and termed him as a drug addict which enraged him.
The youth then went on to grab the victim’s hair from inside his car and dragged her along the road for a while before letting her go.
Speaking to the media the victim said, “I was coming back from my office when a WagonR car came out of a house where I was standing. The driver of the car started misbehaving with me and even tried hitting me by the car. In retaliation, I had a heated argument with him. He called me a beggar as I was walking on the road and terming himself rich as he was driving a car and residing in a posh house.”
“After having a heated argument with the youth I termed him as a drug addict which enraged him and after a few moments he grabbed my hair from inside his car and dragged me along the road and threw me on a drain”, added the victim.
Following the incident, the miscreant’s parents told the victim that they will settle the case with the police as ‘they are Marwaris and have a lot of money’.
The victim has requested the local police to initiate an investigation and nab the culprit as soon as possible.
The miscreant is still on the run while police have brought his father to Dispur Police Station for questioning.
