GUWAHATI: Guwahati continues to be at the top in terms of COVID-19 cases reported in Assam. So far, the capital city has recorded total 12517 cases. On the other hand, 10441 cases were found in Guwahati since July 1. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Assam stands at 26772.
On Tuesday, 570 cases were reported from the city.
Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has already cautioned that Guwahati may witness a surge in Coronavirus cases till the end of July or mid-August.
He stated that around 800-1000 cases may be detected in Guwahati on a daily basis.
“We have assumed that this spike will continue till August 31 or September 15. After that it will come down,” Sarma said on Tuesday.
