GUWAHATI: Guwahati continues to be at the top in terms of COVID-19 cases in Assam. Since June 24, the capital city has registered 11083 positive cases. So far, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Assam is 25092.
On Monday, among the reported 1093 cases in Assam, 448 COVID-19 positive cases were found in Guwahati alone. Majority of these cases lack any kind of travel history.
After Kamrup (Metropolitan), Jorhat district in Upper Assam has also emerged as a COVID-19 hotspot. According to reports, till Monday night, total 899 people have been infected with COVID-19 in Jorhat. On Tuesday, 101 people have been found COVID-19 positive in the district.
“411 cases are from Jorhat town only. The number of cases is definitely a cause of concern. We have been intensifying the testing,” said Jorhat deputy commissioner.
The district which is under total lockdown since July 9 will begin ‘Unlocking process’ from Thursday morning.
