GUWAHATI, Feb 14: A team comprising Guwahati Police officers arrived in Maharashtra’s Pune and issued summons to comedian Samay Raina in connection with a case filed in Guwahati over the vulgar remarks made by another YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia in the online show ‘India’s Got Latent’ Raina hosts.

The development comes in the wake of a case registered in Guwahati on Monday for alleged promotion of obscenity in Raina’s online show.

The Guwahati Crime Branch had registered the FIR against five YouTubers and social influencers — Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Samay Raina — on Monday, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Bisw Sarma had stated in a post on ‘X’.

Raina, who is reportedly in the US, has a house in Balewadi locality of Pune. He has been told in the summons to cooperate in the probe and to present himself before cops in Guwahati.

The Guwahati Police team also summoned Allahbadia and Chanchlani, and asking them to be present in person in Guwahati for interrogation in connection with the controversial remarks made during the show.

Mumbai Police are also investigating the matter while multiple complaints lodged against the five YouTubers over the “crass remarks”.
