GUWAHATI: A team of Assam Police carried out a drive against the shopkeepers not following lockdown norms at Fancy Bazaar in Guwahati on Monday. Police fined several shopkeepers for not maintaining social distancing norms and not wearing masks in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
The team of Police from Fancy Bazaar outpost collected a total of Rs. 10 thousand as fines from the traders not adhering to lockdown norms. It needs to be mentioned that wearing masks has been made mandatory in Assam to prevent the spread of COVID-19. A fine of Rs. 500 can be imposed against a person if he/she is found not wearing a mask in public.
Similarly the authorities strictly asked the shops and business establishments to ensure social distancing norms.
