Guwahati: Kamrup Metro District Administration today conducted COVID test at Guwahati’s Gurukul Grammar School. A total of 30 teachers have been found positive.
Offline classes of class 9 and 10 were going on in the school during the testing process.
Following this, the school has been closed down by the district administration and declared a containment zone.
According to sources, around eight teachers were coming to school to take classes despite suffering from COVID symptoms.
On Tuesday, the district administration conducted rapid antigen test for the teachers and staff and 30 people tested positive. Offline classes for Class IX to Class XII were going on in the school on alternate days as per the latest Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the government.
Meanwhile, Assam on Tuesday registered the sharpest-ever single-day spike since the beginning of the pandemic with 8,072 fresh cases.
