Guwahati: Now use WhatsApp to register complaint against Bus Driver, Ticket Collector

GUWAHATI: Kamrup Metro Transport Department has come up with new techniques for making the complaining process hassle-free for the public who use city buses as their mode of transport.

Now anyone can register complaint against Handyman (helper), Bus driver or Ticket collector through WhatsApp. The department has provided two numbers, “6901269006/ 6026176755”. These WhatsApp numbers will be pasted on all city buses that ply on Guwahati’s roads.

The transport department also informed that the rear door will be the entry point and the front door will be used as an exit. Both doors must be shut while the bus is moving. The doors can be opened only when the bus stops at a bus stand.

Thirty percent buses that are currently plying on the M.G Road and G.S. Road will be rerouted to decrease the high traffic issues on these routes. Meanwhile, 61 buses have been rerouted a few months back. The route numbers and details that are in the buses must be exactly of 5-inches in size and should be visible from a distance of 100 feet.

“Public can now register complaints through WhatsApp. This rule has been implemented for the first time. Also, all the routes where buses currently ply were previously set by associations, now transport department will manage the routes,” said Bapan Kalita, DTO Kamrup.
