GUWAHATI-NORTH GUWAHATI ROPEWAY SERVICE TO BE RESTORED TODAY

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati-North Guwahati ropeway which was closed due to the maintenance work will resume its service today. According to the highly placed sources at Gauhati Municipal Development Authority (GMDA), the ropeway service will be restored from 9 AM on Monday.


The ropeway with a distance of 1.8 KM connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati over the river Brahmaputra is the longest in the country. It was inaugurated on August 24. However, due to some technical glitches, the ropeway was closed after two days of its inauguration.

The journey between Kachari Ghat and Dol Govinda Temple takes just 8 to 9 minutes on the ropeway. Each of the two cabins has a capacity of 32 passengers per trip. The fare for a one-way trip is RS. 60, and a round trip costs RS. 100.
