Guwahati-North Guwahati Bridge to be completed within August, 2023

GUWAHATI: The six-lane bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati is likely to be completed within August, 2023.

Speaking at the ‘Bhoomi Puja’ for the construction of the bridge in Guwahati, Assam’s finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “We have a milestone to complete 10 percent works within August, 2020. We have same other milestones for 2021 and 2022. I hope, the people of Guwahati and Assam will be able to use this bridge within August, 2023.”

Elaborating about the most anticipated project, Dr. Sarma mentioned that Rs. 2608 crore will be spent for the project. Whereas Rs. 2187 crore will be used for the construction, Rs. 55 crore for project management, 196 crore for utility shifting and Rs. 170 crore will be spent for the contingency.

“State government will spend Rs. 700 crore for the bridge,” minister Sarma added.

He also termed the bridge as the biggest project Assam’s Public Works Department (PWD) has undertaken since its inception.
